Ok, here's the plan.

I had an extensive appointment with my new surgeon, Dr. K.  First of all, let me say that I think he is just great!  Dave and I felt really comfortable with him, and my regular doctor, Dr. B, told me that Dr. K is the surgeon that he chose to operate on his mother.  What a recommendation!  He spent a lot of un-rushed time with me, explaining where we are, what are options are, and I can expect.

So, let me try to summarize.

I am choosing to have a lumpectomy, where they take the mass, along with a small margin around it.  At that time, they'll also check my lymph nodes to see if it's spread at all.  Either way, I'll need radiation.  If it's spread, I'll also need chemo.  I might need chemo anyway.

The lumpectomy is scheduled for next Friday (Jan 15).  I'm expected to be out of commission, off work, and such, for at least a week, based on the size, location, and type of surgery.   I'll get the official results of whether the cancer has spread by that Monday (Jan 18).

For those of you who have been praying, here are my requests:
1.  For calmness this coming week.  It's hard not to be anxious!!
2.  For wisdom and precision on the part of Dr. K.
3.  That the cancer will not have spread to my lymph nodes (or any other place)
4.  That I will not need chemo.
5.  That God would continue to hold Dave and I up as He already has been.

I can feel God's grace and peace in my life as we take each day at a time.  I can feel the prayers of those who love us, and I am more certain than I ever have been of my Father's love for us.  His love has never been so clear to me as it is now, when I need it most.

We have also appreciated all the support we've gotten from people who love us.   Thanks!

I'll keep you posted as I learn more.
