SURPRISE! We're now we're a family of four. FOUR.

Things have been a little quiet here on the blog lately.  And it's been for two reasons.  One, I wasn't sure what I was "cleared" to say, and two, because I have been up to my eyeballs in details and things to do.  Because, you see, much to our shock and delight, we find ourselves in the process of adopting again!

Hope you were sitting down for that one.  Lucky for me, I also happened to be sitting down when I got The Phone Call, which came right after getting home from taking Isaac to his first day of school.  I was more than a little surprised.

Backing up a bit, we actually had planned on waiting for awhile to adopt again.  In fact, we had even started making plans to travel overseas to visit Dave's sister and her family. However, when I got The Phone Call and started finding out more about this precious little one in need of a home, I knew we had to meet him.

His name is Andrew, but he goes by Andy.  He's 8 years old, and in 2nd grade.  He moved in with us this past Tuesday, and has started school this week. He loves cars, trains, music, and watching movies.  He can climb like a monkey, and loves to ride his bike.

We are learning that having adopted once does not make us pros - each case works differently, has different rules, and different circumstances.  So, while Isaac had a longer transition into our home, we met Andy, spent a couple of weekends and several evenings with him, and now he's here!  We are very thankful not to have such a long transition into our home.  At the same time, the wait to finalize his adoption will most likely be much longer than Isaac's, so it will be a (yet another) chance to work on patience on my part.

In spite of the quicker transition to living with us, we felt very ready to make the change. In fact, by Tuesday, when he moved in, Isaac was so excited that he just lost control of himself and jumped straight into Andy's arms!  Lucky for him, Andy caught him!

Andy has just melted right into our family, and we are incredibly thankful to God for bringing such a wonderful child to us.  He brings joy and laughter to our hearts, and I already can't picture life without him!

I'm looking forward to sharing more about Andy in upcoming posts.  It's hard to believe I'm now a mama of TWO!  I always thought you had to be much more wise to be a mom (maybe that was just my mom?), but we are so very thankful that God gives us grace for each day, and that He is faithful to provide for us as we figure out how to be parents to two such precious boys.

Life is good as a family of four!

  1. Wow, we're so excited for you all! I think that the wisdom comes *after* being a mom (or dad), not before. Get ready, it'll hit you any time now :-)
